Several Reasons That A Bird Would Make A Wonderful Pet
Birds have become more and more popular as pets in recent years. Birds are easy to feed and best of all, their diet is relatively inexpensive. A feeding dish and water dispenser in the birds’ cage is important, and need to be checked often. Birds can be fed grain and seeds, as well as a variety of fruits.
It is important to ensure that your bird has a nutritional diet and that you also give them any necessary supplements. Bird that do not live in the wild will need the extra vitamins that they would normally get from bark, soil or plants, and these nutrients are not always found in seed or grit mixes. For pet birds, care involves ensuring that they get all the nutrients that they need in order to be healthy.
Domesticated birds need to have a cage where they can stretch their wings and be comfortable. Bird cages vary in sizes and the general rule states that the bigger the bird, the bigger the cage. Some birds like to climb or hang upside down, so bars can be added to the cage for them to play. Extras are available to purchase for all pet bird cages, such as breeding boxes, toys, poles and play stands. Birds enjoy playing, and will often entertain themselves in their cages.
Many people prefer the simple chore of cleaning their cage once a day to having to walk and exercise their pet on a regular basis. Owners, who have bonded with their birds, will often take them out of their cages when they run errands and let them accompany them to the shops. Many birds enjoy being stroked and cuddled, and provide great companionship to their owners. Handling your bird on a regular basis is a good idea to ensure that they get comfortable with your presence, and get used to being in captivity.
